I'm like the Waffle House. I'm always open for business.
I once had to figure out how to send more than 20 rolls of gift wrap to Honduras.
After moving here in July 2016, I’m thrilled that I found City Paper Company as my next career adventure. What I really find appealing about City Paper is the variety of clients - from small businesses to global brands. It gives me an opportunity to help clients of all shape and sizes come up with the next compelling marketing idea. I also assist in managing the e-commerce company stores. In my free time, I really enjoy exploring everything Birmingham has to offer. I also like to draw when the mood strikes me.
Life is 10% what happens to you and 90% how you react to it.
It doesn't take long to figure out City Paper is all about collaboration and camaraderie. The teamwork here is unlike anything I've ever seen. I love networking with clients and providing creative, eye-catching packaging & promotional ideas for their companies.
In my free time, I enjoy surfing, riding horses and spending as much time outside as possible. Most importantly, I live by the philosophy 'You never know until you try!'
I'll keep this simple: I love the people I work with. I know that if I have a problem I can go to anyone here and if they do not know the answer, they will do their best to help me figure it out. Day-to-day, I'm responsible for stock billings, but if somebody needs help, I'm there to answer the call. One of my favorite parts of the job is seeing some of the results from a collective effort of everybody's hard work and dedication to this awesome company.
"The best way to find yourself is to lose yourself in the service of others." - Mahatma Gandhi
To be honest, EVERYTHING is my favorite part of the job! That's because the people and the loyalty here make it easy to come into work everyday.
And of course, my favorite team is ALABAMA!
Everything I aim to do at City Paper is centered around showering our City Paper culture with creativity. I'm having an amazing time developing a fresh, new go-to market plan for a company with over 117 years of existence. It's really fascinating!
The harder I work, the luckier I get.
For 44 years, I've enjoyed the challenges that come up every day and taking care of more than 500 active customers. I am very fortunate to have my son, daughter and daughter-in-law join the company as the 4th generation of Friedman's to be a part of the City Paper Company.
I love being able to work one on one with clients and help their brands come to life through packaging and promotional items. My job is to make my clients' lives easier.
Be very careful, then, how you live – not as unwise, but as wise – making the most of every opportunity.
Previously before joining the City Paper team, I ran a promotional product company. What I like most about working at City paper is the amazing staff. After only being here for a short time, I could tell how much everyone really cared about each other. Everyone is happy to put all hands on deck to be sure customers are taken care of. I’m excited to be a part of the next chapter in City Paper’s growing success.
I'm pretty new to City Paper Company and I can honestly say that my favorite part about the job is that it is never boring. EVER! My day to day responsibilities are sourcing products, pricing and creating presentations for initial quotes.

I may not know the answer at first, but I can push enough buttons to figure it out! My favorite part about working at City Paper Company is working with a team who is all on the same page to reach our goals.
"Be a beautiful soul"
Technically, I've only been employed here since 2014, but truthfully, I've been working here my whole life. My favorite part about working here is definitely the people – as some of them are my family.
And if I could live anywhere in the world, it would be Fiji. On a hut over water.
I love being in an environment where my passion for design and creativity is also my day-to-day responsibility. If I could live anywhere in the world, it would be in my grandparents former home in Flatwoods, Kentucky. I have so many wonderful memories there.
Do unto others as you would have them do unto you.
For 46 years, this has been my one and only job. I handle mainly large accounts and oversee most everything that goes on at City Paper. But the best part of the job is working alongside very dedicated people who want to do the best job they possibly can.
This quote from Vince Lombardi says it all: "A winning organization must avoid mistakes with a passion; treat mistakes with a vengeance."
I could tell right away I was at a special place on my first day of work. Everyone is extremely nice and open to suggestions. As a graphic designer, I'm a problem solver. I enjoy providing creative solutions for any job that is put in front of me.
In my rare and elusive free time, I enjoy concerts, reading, painting, drawing, seeing friends & family, etc. Simply put, I like to stay busy.
I'm always on the lookout for what's next and how a new item can benefit any one of our customers. On a day to day basis, I'm responsible for entering in all the promo orders and keeping our vendors happy. When I'm not at my desk, you can usually find me riding bikes and spending time with my three beautiful daughters.
It is not the critic who counts; not the man who points out where the strong man stumbled or where the doer of deeds could have done them better.
The moment I interviewed with City Paper, I knew this was the right place for me. I have never felt so welcomed into a family business. Which makes my responsibilities all that more enjoyable. I am a number crunching guru and I love using my skills to problem solve. I assist customers with questions on their invoices, such as payment processing or discrepancies that may arise.
I strongly believe in working hard to add value and not take any away. In my free time I enjoy singing, kayaking, traveling and so much more.

Let's get real for a minute. I go full charge when it comes to orders. I'm the guy that's always making sure orders are pulled correctly, the warehouse is tidy, and treats customers with respect and dignity so they receive a pleasant experience every time. It's my favorite part of the job.
I'm not much of a sports nut, but I do have a favorite team: City Paper! I love the people and atmosphere. It's like being part of the family!
One of the things that attracted me to City Paper was the contagious positivity around here. The people I get to work with is so nice and helpful. I'm responsible for helping out with photography and creating designs for our clients. It's so much fun! City Paper is my first job out of college and what a place to begin my career!
My favorite quote comes from the one and only Bob Marley: Love the life you live, live the life you love.
I have been with City Paper for 22 years. My job is to keep the art department running smoothly and I love that my job keeps me on my toes. In my free time, I work at a beautiful wedding house.
I live in Fort Worth, Texas. I love the City Paper team, but what I like most about being here is the ability to be somewhat of an entrepreneur. I can set my own goals and use the excellent support system City Paper has to attain them. My key responsibilities are generating new business in both retail and promotional space. My favorite part of the job is meeting new people and finding ways to help them grow their company and brand.
When I have free time, I enjoy going to Alabama athletic events (Roll Tide!), concerts and just chilling on the patio.
As the voice of my warehouse workers, I must be an effective leader and oversee that all requirements are met in a safe and timely manner. I'm a hard worker and give 100% when doing a job.
University of Alabama, San Francisco 49ers and the Chicago Bulls
While my key responsibilities are in the accounting department, my main priority is to make sure our vendors are happy. I truly enjoy working with our vendors and building relationships with them.
But the best part of the job here is the family-oriented atmosphere. The family members are all great people who treat all their employees like they are "part of the family."
As a custom purchasing agent, I am in charge of entering charges and working on the Cracker Barrel account. I've been here for eight years because I really enjoy what I do and the people I work with.
You always have to work hard and give 100% and always be a team player
After starting my career here, it didn't take me long to see what everybody is talking about. The culture here rocks! It's evident from being around the team that this isn't just a job - I feel like I'm part of a team who care about each other. I'm responsible for providing strategic marketing plans and products to help support the marketing department and sales team. I believe that customer service is one of the most important aspects of the promotional industry. Without top notch customer service, you run the risk of losing a client. I always try to provide a solution that if I was the customer I would be happy to receive.
My philosophy is let no one ever come to you without leaving better and happier.
By far one of my favorite parts of the job is seeing the joy on a client's face after helping them identify a solution that fits their brand. They are so excited when they see the final product. I believe hard work will generate results and the highest compliment I can receive is a referral.
There's nothing I enjoy more than spending my free time with my little girl.
When you hear me talking about numbers, one may think I went to Spreadsheet Camp as a child. I didn’t, but I would have if there was one. As the newest member of our Finance Team, I enjoy putting on my Penny Patrol badge and getting to work on collecting & entering payments and keeping accounts current. I’m a huge Alabama fan and even bigger Chicago Cubs fan!
One of my favorite quotes comes from Charles R. Swindoll: Life is 10% what happens and 90% how you react to it.
I love being the Newbie. And by that, I don't necessarily mean I'm the newest person here. I just love introducing City Paper to new businesses because we can bring so many creative ideas to them. Right off the bat, my favorite part of the job are the people and atmosphere. Next best part is brainstorming with clients. So much fun!
My favorite quote has to come from Ingrid Bergman: "Be yourself. The world worships the original."
Using my creative background, I help strategize and plan ideas to increase brand awareness for businesses. Brand management and promotion is my forte, and in a world where competition is at an all-time high, it is my top priority!
The one thing I love about my job is the diversity of clients I work with on a daily basis. It allows me to see all types of situations and offer unique solutions to a variety of opportunities.
I truly enjoy the energy from everyone at all levels of this company. Everyone is truly excited and engaged to help our customers with creative solutions.
The price of success is hard work, dedication to the job at hand, and the determination that whether we win or lose, we have applied the best of ourselves to the task at hand.
I knew City Paper Company was the right place for me because I enjoy working closely with customers. I consider myself a real problem solver that enjoys matching customers with the right retail solution. In my spare time I enjoy listening to podcasts. I suppose if I could live anywhere in the world, it would be Oprah’s House. I can only imagine she has everything. EVERYTHING.
I love working for a true "family company" and all of the great support staff inside the office that makes my job fun and enjoyable. In my free time, I enjoy the outdoors – camping, hiking, fishing, canoeing.
So naturally, if I could live anywhere in the world, it would be Big Sky, Montana.
I enjoy the versatility of ideation that we can bring to our prospective clients. Every day brings a new challenge and resolve. I also really like the family aspect of this business. My Great Grandfather, Papa Sam, worked here and I have followed in his footsteps. When I meet with a customer I explain to them that believe there is always a solution to a problem and that there is always another option. There isn't a person I meet that I cannot help.
When I woke up this morning I asked myself: what are the secrets of success in life? I found the answer right there in my room. The fan said: be cool, the roof said: aim high, the window said: see the world, the clock said: every minute is precious, the mirror said: reflect before you act, the door said: push hard for your goals, and don't forget, the carpet said: kneel down and pray...
