City Paper received recognition for being one of Birmingham’s Best Places to work. Being named one of the Best Places to work alongside the other incredible companies mentioned is truly an honor. The award brings pride to our team for a multitude of reasons, but what strikes me most is it came as a surprise. Sure, we have great perks, we really do – generous PTO, 401k matching, potlucks, flexible schedules – but almost any company can offer perks. Our culture has been cultivated and refined over the years, but we don’t actively try to be the best. The people make City Paper the best possible place to work. We hype each other up on Mondays, cheer for each other in professional victories, but the best is we’re there for each other on our best & worst days. I can personally attest to the best cheer squad that attended my wedding 8 hours away from Birmingham – that’s the best. The true honor is our hard working, team oriented group of people recognizing our organization and being proud enough to brag. The best sure didn’t happen on accident, but our people work every day to keep City Paper the best.
