10 years ago I took a leap of faith that felt more like a dream come true moving to Birmingham to work for City Paper. At the time, City Paper was an almost 120 year old 4th generation, family owned retail packaging & promotional marketing agency. And all of that was a drastically different landscape from the promotional marketing industry job that started my career.
City Paper feels like home to me and it’s not lost on me how fortunate I am to have found that feeling in a “job”. Sure, it is in fact work and yes there have been really long days, extra hard weeks and seasons that have hurt, but that’s not what I remember about the last 10 years. What I remember most is my coworkers traveling 8 hours to my wedding, my boss offering her home to host my baby shower, my co-worker turned dearest friend now being the godmother of my child, countless promotions and a whole lot of pride.
I’ve been reflecting on what this company, job and team mean to me and to quickly sum it up – it’s an adventure of a lifetime. We fight for each other, for the brands that we’re fortunate to work with and for the value we bring to the table. The revenue growth, clients that have given us opportunities and creative brilliance that I’ve witnessed in the company I’ve called home for the last decade is nothing short of inspirational.
It’s a privilege to work with the team I do and more often than not it’s a pinch me moment to be included at the table with the clients that trust City Paper. 10 whole years I’ve worked for City Paper Company. It doesn’t feel like it could really be a decade, but reflecting on all we have accomplished and all that has changed, 20 years would make much more sense.
None of that has anything to do with the work we’ve done though.. So what has made City Paper successful the last 10 years? Bringing creative branding solutions to life through promotional marketing and retail packaging. What we do even better than tangible branding solutions is authenticity. We have shown our clients we are exactly what you see and we invite them to be part of the family.
You’ll hear our team regularly say, we need a tv show and Bravo if you see this – call me. We really need a tv show.
